Also known as Is-DF-23-55

Where: Japan (24.5° N, 124.3° E: paleocoordinates 28.9° N, 121.3° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Miyara Formation, Middle Eocene (47.8 - 37.7 Ma)

• About 8 ft above D360 and near the top of the conglomerate. Conglomerate bed in bedded volcanics. The Miyara Formation rests on the eerosional surface of an intensely folded Paleozoic formation, and is overlain by the Miocene Yaeyama coal-bearing group. Foraminifera support an upper Eocene age, while molluscs confirm a middle Miocene age

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; pebbly, gray, green, argillaceous, sandy, calcareous conglomerate

• Conglomerate of subrounded to rounded pebbles derived from the Ishigaki Group embedded in a gray, greenish-gray, reddish-brown or tan sandy, clayey, or limey matrix
