Sister taxon: Jurassichelon oleronensis

Type specimen: NMS 9151 (holotype; formerly NMS 618), a partial shell (partial shell with only the medial part of the carapace preserved). Its type locality is Limestone quarry within or around Solothurn, which is in a Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal limestone in the Reuchenette Formation of Switzerland.

Distribution: found only at St. Niklaus quarries, Solothurn
