Environment/lithology: marine; calcareous mudstone

• "The articulated nature of the shells, the dominance of [Protathyrisina], and the calcareous mudstone matrix, together with the nature of the minor constituents all suggest a restrictive, BA 2 or 3 assignment. Low oxygen might be indicated, as well as little current activity. The distinction between this community and the interlayered Protathyris Community might be due to the vagaries of larval settling and distribution rathern than to any basic environmental differences."
