• No specific bed level given by Smith. Formation ranges from Late Silurian to Early Devonian; faunal list combined with Smith's correlation and range charts suggests that collection is early Lochkovian.

Environment/lithology: marine; calcareous mudstone

• Deposits in this region are of two general kinds: shallow-water stable carbonate platform (generally in the NW part of Arctic Archipelago) and deeper basinal facies (generally to the SE). This collection seems to be in the former, based on Smith's maps.

•SEP: environmental call here is impossible without additional information and I have not found a good source yet; lithological description is more consistent with basinal facies

• "thinly bedded, laminated, calcareous mudstone"
