Taxonomy
Nanhsiungchelys was named by Yeh (1966). Its type is Nanhsiungchelys wuchingensis. It is the type genus of Nanhsiungchelyidae.
It was assigned to Chelonia by Carroll (1988); to Trionychia by Joyce et al. (2004); and to Nanhsiungchelyidae by Yeh (1966), Sukhanov (2000), Sukhanov et al. (2008), Brinkman et al. (2008), Danilov et al. (2013), Tong and Li (2018) and Ke et al. (2023).
It was assigned to Chelonia by Carroll (1988); to Trionychia by Joyce et al. (2004); and to Nanhsiungchelyidae by Yeh (1966), Sukhanov (2000), Sukhanov et al. (2008), Brinkman et al. (2008), Danilov et al. (2013), Tong and Li (2018) and Ke et al. (2023).
