Saurichnium tetractis was named by Gürich (1926). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Otjihaene-Maparero 92 Farm tracksite (ONP II), which is in a Jurassic eolian sandstone in the Etjo Formation of Namibia.
