Taxonomy
Murexiella (Murexiella) calhounensis was named by Vokes (1968). Its type specimen is UNM 645891, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 555 - Fourmile Creek [Chipola Fm], which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
