Whittakerites planatus
Taxonomy
Whittakerites planatus was named by Ludvigsen (1976) [Paratypes: GSC 44194, 44216, 44219, 44221, 44222, 44192, 44198, 44203, 44204. Hypotypes: GSC 44189, 44190, 44195-44197, 44199-44202, 44205-44215, 44193, 44195]. Its type specimen is GSC 44191, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Southwestern District of Mackenzie, Whittaker Anticline (Q-530), which is in an Edenian/Maysvillian carbonate limestone in the Whittaker Formation of Canada.
