Mesogryllus achelous

Taxonomy
Blattidium achelous was named by Westwood (1854). Its type specimen is NHM I.12302, a tegmen, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Lower Purbeck, Swanage (Brodie coll.), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Mesogryllus achelous by Handlirsch (1906), Zeuner (1939), Gorochov et al. (2006) and Wang et al. (2018).
