Taxonomy
Protaboilus lini was named by Ren and Meng (2006). Its type specimen is CNU-O-NN-2006003, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU 2006 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
