Hanchungolithus was named by Lu (1956) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l O Aren-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2,875]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Trinucleidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
