Tendagurutherium dietrichi

Taxonomy
Tendagurutherium dietrichi was named by Heinrich (1998). Its type specimen is MB.Ma.46910, a maxilla (fragment of a right dentary with the last molar), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tendaguru quarry Ig, Kindope, which is in a Kimmeridgian channel lag siltstone in the Tendaguru Formation of Tanzania.

W. -D. Heinrich 1998Dentary with short angular process, projecting backward and downward, and directed slightly medially. Below the condylar process there is a distinct subcondylar groove with a central deepening. Lingual side of the dentary with internal (Meckelian) groove and coronoid bone. Dental foramen large, oval, and positioned far back. Trigonid of ultimate molar high, compressed anteroposteriorly, with three principal cusps and two anterior basal cusps. Trigonid dominated by protoconid; paraconid similar or equal in height to metaconid. Metaconid placed farther lingually than paraconid; protoconid slightly anterior to metaconid
