Platycerus berendti was named by Zang (1905). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Berendt collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
It was recombined as Succiniplatycerus berendti by Nikolayev (1990) and Krell (2000).
