Cardobairdia was named by van den Bold (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett-u R Sepkoski's reference number: ZR88]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Saipanettidae by Harloff and Jäger (1994); to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sigilliidae by Forel (2022).
