Psilatricolpites palaeocenica was named by Van der Hammen and Garcia de Mutis (1966). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-II-98 Col. S.G.N. (Catat.-472), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D body fossil.

T. Van der Hammen and C. Garcia de Mutis 1966 | Tricolpate, psilate (locally to slightly scab rate). Size ± 50 μ. Exine very thick, 2.5-3 μ, thicker (to 4 μ) near the colpi. Surface slightly irregular, sometimes resembling a scab rate sculpture. With immersion locally small irregular perforations (foveolae) can be distinguished. The colpi, in polar view, open abruptly towards the equator. |
