Taxonomy
Phymotaxis mansfieldi was named by Cooke (1941) [MEASUREMENT: Based on largest (and only stated) cotype.]. Its type specimen is USNM 372868, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 7361, 7362, 7363 - Brooksville [Suwannee Lmst], which is in a Rupelian carbonate limestone in the Suwannee Limestone Formation of Florida.
