Taxonomy
Scaphelasma scutula was named by Popov et al. (1994). Its type specimen is Br1653, a shell (complete shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Viljandi core - Sample 21, which is in a Pirgu carbonate limestone in the Jonstorp Formation of Estonia.
