Taxonomy
Gunnarites varicostatus was named by Henderson (1970). Its type specimen is Victoria University VC.45a,b, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is O06/f7655, Beach at Rangi Pt, Hokianga Harbour, which is in a Haumurian marine horizon in New Zealand.
