Taxonomy
Illaenus davisii was named by Salter (1849). Its type specimen is GSM 35585 [lectotype selected by Whittington 1966], an exoskeleton, and it is a mold.

It was recombined as Illaenus (Parillaenus) davisi by Whittington (1966).
