Archaeopristocera miki was named by Terayama (2004). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (NSMT collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
It was recombined as Apenesia miki by Azevedo et al. (2018) and Colombo et al. (2020).
