Taxonomy
Dryopithecus (Rangwapithecus) gordoni was named by Andrews (1974). Its type specimen is KNM-SO 700, a maxilla (maxilla with complete upper dentition except for the incisors), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Rangwapithecus gordoni by Harrison (2010).
