Cyclothyris cardiatelia was named by Berrocal-Casero (2020). Its type specimen is UCM.Tu.39.02, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tu.39, Turzo, which is in a Coniacian offshore marl in the Nidáguila Formation of Spain.
