Taxonomy
Avalonia manuelensis was named by Walcott (1890). Its type specimen is USNM 18333 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Manuel’s Brook, Conception Bay, which is in a Branchian carbonate limestone in the Brigus Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Avalonia.
