Taxonomy
Longiproetus meiopsifius was named by Van Viersen et al. (2012). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Resteigne quarry, Hanonet Fm, unit 1, which is in an Eifelian shallow subtidal limestone/shale in the Hanonet Formation of Belgium.
It was recombined as Gerastos meiopsifius by van Viersen (2021).
