Claruscoscinus was named by Handfield (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-u Cm Tojo-l]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Claruscoscinidae.
It was assigned to Archaeocyathida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Claruscoscinidae by Debrenne et al. (2015).
