Taxonomy
Chipetaia lamporea was named by Rasmussen (1996). Its type specimen is CM 69800, a set of teeth (lower right M2-3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gnat-Out-Of-Hell, which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Uinta Formation of Utah. It is the type species of Chipetaia.
