Taxonomy
Marcopoloichthys furreri was named by Arratia (2022). Its type specimen is PIMUZ A/I 2886, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gletscher Ducan, Davos, which is in a Fassanian marine shale in the Prosanto Formation of Switzerland.
