Taxonomy
Rhynchonella fallax was named by Deslongchamps (1863).

It was recombined as Rudirhynchia fallax by Muir-Wood (1928) and Ager (1958); it was synonymized subjectively with Prionorhynchia greppini by Ager (1967); it was recombined as Cirpa fallax by Baeza-Carratalá and García Joral (2022).
