Taxonomy
Solenopleura howleyi was named by Walcott (1890). Its type specimen is USNM 18336 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Protolenus howleyi by Landing (1991); it was recombined as Geyerorodes howleyi by Lemke (2020).
