Onychomys jinglebobensis

Taxonomy
Onychomys jinglebobensis was named by Hibbard (1955). Its type specimen is UMMP 29254, a mandible (a right jaw with incisor and m1-m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jinglebob, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in the Kingsdown Formation of Kansas.

It was synonymized subjectively with Onychomys pedroensis by Carleton and Eshelman (1979), Eshelman and Hibbard (1981) and Dalquest and Schultz (1992).

C. W. Hibbard 1955 large grasshopper mouse which belongs to the Onycho- mys leucogaster group. The diastemal region is wider, the jaw deeper, and the M, not as reduced, however, as in Recent specimens of 0. leuco- gaster. The jaw is slightly larger and the M, is definitely larger than in 0. pedroensis Gidley from the Curtis Ranch fauna of Arizona.
