Chengzihe Formation, Jixi Group, eastern Heilongjiang, China (Cretaceous of China)

Where: Heilongjiang, China (45.3° N, 131.0° E: paleocoordinates 50.9° N, 130.7° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Chengzihe Formation (Jixi Group), Aptian (125.0 - 113.0 Ma)

• The Chengzihe Formation is considered to be mainly Aptian but perhaps extends downward into the Barremian. The lower marine beds yield the listed fossils.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: paralic; lithified siliciclastic sediments

• The Chengzihe Formation is dominated by non-marine coal-bearing deposits. These are mainly composed of greyish white or yellow medium-fine-grained sandstones, siltstones, mudstones, sandstones with basal gravels, and coals; rocks of non-marine origin are intercalated with at least four littoral beds.

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: Dinoflagellates not considered
