• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Bearpaw [Shale] Formation, which overlies the Late Campanian Oldman Formation (brackish to non-marine), andis overlain by the Eastend Fm (Maastrichtian). AGE: Late Campanian on the basis of ammonite (and other groups) biostratigraphy; Baculites compressus biozone. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From 50 ft above base of section.

Environment/lithology: offshore; poorly lithified, gray shale and lithified, concretionary shale

• ENVIRONMENT: Offshore siliciclastic marine setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Dark grey shale, with occasional concretions. LITHIFICATION: Poorly lithified shales, but with fossiliferous lithified concretions.
