Stratigraphy
Formation:Red Bluff
Stratigraphic resolution:formation
Stratigraphy comments: Red Bluff formation is exposed in Clark and Wayne counties, Mississippi. It consists of fossiliferous, dark grey, silty clay with zones of ironstone concentrations in lower part. These sediments conformably overlie the blue-grey, blocky, marine clay of the Shubuta Clay Member of the Yazoo Formation and were deposited in shallow marine shelf, prodelta, and marginal delta bay enviroments. Lower part of the Red Bluff Formation is the most fossiliferous. Otoliths are also abundant here.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:gray poorly lithified silty claystone
Secondary lithology: ironstone

Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body,original aragonite,original calcite
Size of fossils:mesofossils
Collection methods and comments
Collection excludes:all microfossils,some macrofossils,difficult macrofossils
Collection methods:bulk,mechanical,field collection
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
Collection method comments: bivalves only
Taxonomic list comments:Because author denoted all species that he found more than 99 individuals as abundant or "A", I've used a similar system on the taxonomic list. 1- 9 individuals rare (R), 10 -99 (C) common, and 99+ (A) abundant like the author had before. Categories are listed in the comments field, absolute abundances are given in the abundance field.
Since taxa with greater than 99 specimens were not counted with absolute abundances, these were reported with category "A" for abundant.
