• Most Ediacaran specimes from the Flinders Range occur on the lower surfaces of the sandstone beds, however most specimens of Rangea longa are preserved on the upper surfaces of quartzite slabs. The layers containing the fossils are flaggy (split apart into layers that are 1-10cm thick). The specimen of R. longa is collected in a loose block.
