Where: Esmeralda County, Nevada (37.7° N, 117.7° W: paleocoordinates 3.1° S, 96.8° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Fallotaspis- Nevadella trilobite zone, Montenegro Member (Campito Formation), Montezuman (520.0 - 515.3 Ma)
• 174 to 176m above the top of the underlying Andrews Mountain Member. NOTE: The base of the Montezuman Stage is determied to be at the base of the Nevadella Zone. Although conceptually the boundary would be placed on the earliest trilobite occurence, this is a very difficult point to define in the field. It should be noted that the use of the Nevadella Zone base for the base of the Montezuman Stage is not in agreement iwth the Cambrian age/stage chart published in Episodes, V. 23, no.3. THe chart has the interprettation of the Montezuman stage beginning at the Fallotaspis biozone (directly below the Nevadella Zone).
