• The deposits are dated at 26.26-26.93 Ma (Lanphere 2000; Prothero 2008; Reynolds et al 2000)

Environment/lithology: crater lake; diatomaceous, tuffaceous shale

• "The Creede Formation also consists of lacustrine deposits that were formed by the collapse of the Creede caldera (Larsen and Crossey 1996)."
