Where: Nevada (40.5° N, 118.1° W: paleocoordinates 11.1° N, 41.7° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Acrochordiceras hyatti ammonoid zone, Fossil Hill Member (Prida Formation), Bithynian (247.2 - 242.0 Ma)
• This small lot encompasses ammonoids of middle Anisian as well as upper Anisian age and was not obtained by bedrock-controlled sampling. This age assignment is revealed by the small ammonoids preserved in the embedding matrix. These are unambiguously referred to Intornites mctaggarti (McLEARN) and to Platycuccoceras bonaevistae (HYATT & SMITH) which permit a Mctaggarti Subzone allocation.
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified limestone and lithified siltstone
Size class: macrofossils
Collected by F.N. Johnson in 1931; reposited in the USNM
• Repository: Formerly Stanford University, now USNM (Gymnites tozeri specimen and associated matrix ammonoids Intornites and Platycuccoceras)
