Environment/lithology: shoreface; lithified, calcareous sandstone

• The numerous broken fragments of scutellid echinoids, gastropods and bryozoans within this layer and the extremely abundant occurrence of the oyster Cubitostrea multicostata in the overlying marls suggest very shallow marine settings for these deposits.
• Irregularly cross-bedded marly sandstone
