Graptolites of the Monograptus convolutus Zone on Bornholm (Silurian of Denmark)
Where: Bornholm, Denmark (55.1° N, 14.7° E: paleocoordinates 29.6° S, 4.9° W)
• coordinate based on political unit
• local area-level geographic resolution
When: Aeronian (440.8 - 438.5 Ma)
Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, pyritic, gray, calcareous shale and lithified limestone
• "The gregarius Zone passes into the convolutus Zone without any lithological change. Throughout the zone the shales become darker and in the uppermost part they are dark grey to nearly black. The limestone content in the shales disappears. The shales are rich in pyrite, especially in the lower and upper par of the zone, where well preserved graptolites with full relief infilled with pyrite are frequent. The thickness of the zone is about 9m."
