• Possibly Late Carboniferous but Kerp et al. 1990 think Asselian-Sakmarian age may be more correct. Bed is assignable to the upper sub-unit of the Lauterecken-Odernheim Schichten (L-0 10) subunit of Boy and Fichter 1982.

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; siltstone and limestone

• Saar-Nahe basin; Half-graben generated by extension on South Hunsruck bounding fault, but with some component of dextral strike-slip transtension in an intermontane setting following the Variscan orogeny.
