• Overall: "...[section] represents a small enclave of deeper water shales and limestones surrounded by shallow water, massive, light-colored limestone...section consists of a more or less regular alternation of limestones, shaly limestones, and calcareous shale. The limestones are typically very dark and have a high organic content. Some lst beds contain 10-15% chert in the form of irregular masses, show minor brecciation, and may be partially silicfied in a spongy pattern. The shales vary in their calcareous content, so that at the extreme end, might well be defined as platy, shaly lsts. Fossils are for the most part common to abundant in the carbonates, and most are totally silicified..the shales contain a relatively small fauna of scattered graptolites and rare brachiopods..."
