Orthoceras Quarry near Praha-Lochkov (Silurian of Czech Republic)

Also known as Cardiola conformis Community, Prague Basin

Where: Czech Republic (50.0° N, 14.3° E: paleocoordinates 51.0° S, 56.8° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Monograptus fragmentalis graptolite zone, Upper Member (Kopanina Formation), Ludfordian (425.6 - 423.0 Ma)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; shelly/skeletal limestone

• "Orthocone cephalopod shells were well oriented by S/SW to N/NE currents. Very condensed, slow sedimentation, and even some breaks in sedimentation were involved. Population densities high, diversity high. The envrironment was shallow water, subtidal, influenced by relatively strong current activity but protected against stronger wave action."
• "Mostly disarticulated shells occur in biodetrital limestones with abundant nektobenthic cephalopods."

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: Authors give life modes and abundances for bivalves. List as entered includes tables 16.8 (Orthoceras Quarry) and 16.9 (Praha-Pankrac) as well as other taxa mentioned in text.
