Patrocardia evolvens Community at La Meignanne, Massif Armoricain (Devonian of France)

Where: France (47.5° N, 0.7° W: paleocoordinates 51.4° S, 40.7° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Monograptus uniformis zone, Lochkovian (419.2 - 410.8 Ma)

• "Lowermost Lochkovian"

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; shelly/skeletal, calcareous claystone and shelly/skeletal lime mudstone

• "Deposit feeders absent. Diversity relatively high. High density pop'ns only of the dominant sp....Less favorable living conditions. Low or almost no current activity, below wave base, low sedimentation rate and possibly lower oxygen content."
• "Mostly disarticulated bivalves are preserved in the dark, calcareous claystones to micritic limestones with abundant, scattered, nektobenthic cephalopod shells."

Collection methods: Life mode and abundance of bivalves given (table 16.20). Only bivalves explicitly said to occur at type locality, but text suggests other elements present as well.
