Where: Southern Coastal Plain, Israel (31.6° N, 34.6° E)
• Paleocoordinates: 14.9° N, 40.7° E (Wright 2013)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
When: Talme Yafe Formation, Late/Upper Albian to Late/Upper Albian (106.3 - 93.9 Ma)
Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, gray, argillaceous, carbonaceous mudstone
•In the Gevar'am 2 well, at 1500 m the Gevar'am Fm. is overlain by 700 meters of light to medium gray marine mudstone called the Talme Yafe Formation. The nature of the contact between these two formations is still an open question.
•The rapid vertical change from a carbonaceous shale to a light gray marlstone sequence may represent an unconformable relationship or only a rapid change in the depositional environment.
Size class: microfossils
Preservation: soft parts, original sporopollenin
Collection methods: chemical, hydrochloric, hydroflouric, sieve
