CP-102, Cowboy Pass, Confusion Range (Triassic of the United States)

Where: Utah (39.3° N, 113.7° W)

• Paleocoordinates: 23.5° N, 34.6° W (Wright 2013)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Thaynes Group, Spathian (251.3 - 247.2 Ma)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marginal marine; lithified limestone

• Mud drapes suggest deposition in marginal marine and probably tidally influenced settings. The absence of stenohaline organisms such as crinoids and brachiopods, which both became abundant in Spathian deposits of the western USA, supports a restricted marginal marine setting.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: mold/impression
