Section 12, 230-240 m, Sekwi Formation, Nevadella zone (Cambrian of Canada)

Where: Northwest Territories, Canada (63.5° N, 128.2° W: paleocoordinates 2.2° S, 69.1° W)

• coordinate stated in text

When: Nevadella zone, Sekwi Formation, Atdabanian (521.0 - 516.0 Ma)

• Cambrian Series 2, Stage 3

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified carbonate and black shale

• red siltstones, whereas the Sekwi Formation regionally is composed mainly of shallow-to-deep water carbonate interbedded with black shale (Fritz 1976a, 1976b; Krause and Oldershaw 1978; Dilliard et al. 2009).The facies appears to represent a proximal, nearshore, shallow-water, peritidal environment (Dilliard et al. 2009); this facies is low in diversity, and was not sampled in previous studies of olenelline trilobites from the region.
• carbonate interbedded with black shale

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Collected by W. H. Fritz; reposited in the GSC

• Trilobites only;collection 73040, 1271 ft above base of formation
