Where: Lindi, Tanzania (10.0° S, 39.6° E: paleocoordinates 29.1° S, 29.3° E)
• coordinate stated in text
When: Lindi Formation (Kilwa Group), Early/Lower Turonian to Early/Lower Turonian (93.5 - 89.3 Ma)
Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, bioturbated siltstone and lithified, silty sandstone
•from 62 m to 65 m (core TDP24/27) (Fig. 8). From 65 m to the bottom of the hole, light gray, lithified, coarse-grained sandstones with woody debris and rip-up clasts are interbedded with greenish gray siltstones. The sandstone beds have sharp, irregular basal contacts, while small bioturbation mottling is only visible in the siltstone layers.
Size class: microfossils
Preservation: original calcite, replaced with calcite
Collected by Tanzania Drilling Project Expedition in 2007; reposited in the USNM
Collection methods: core, smear slide,
