Foreshore 1 mile north of Elgol (Jurassic of the United Kingdom)

Where: Scotland, United Kingdom (57.2° N, 6.1° W: paleocoordinates 46.4° N, 4.6° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Kilmaluag Formation (Great Estuarine Group), Bathonian (168.3 - 166.1 Ma)

Environment/lithology: lagoonal or restricted shallow subtidal; lithified mixed carbonate-siliciclastic sediments

• A shallow ephemeral lagoonal environment fed by small rivers, and the presence of desiccation cracks suggests episodes of drying out and mudflat formation.
• The Kilmaluag Formation comprises interbedded calcareous mudstones and nodular argillaceous limestones

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: original phosphate

Reposited in the BMNH

• The material has been accumulated since 1971 by a series of collecting trips. Some material is in the National Museums of Scotland, Edinburgh
