•Taken in full, these 87Sr/86Sr dates indicate an age of 620–670 ka for UCMP 236084, or more conservatively 590–700 ka in age (middle Pleistocene; Ionian equivalent).

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; siltstone

• The fossil-bearing horizon (UCMP locality V99892; Fig. 1d) is a massive siltstone rich in mollusk shells and woody debris, including well- preserved conifer cones.
