Woobo-myeon, Gunwi-gun (Cretaceous of South Korea)

Where: South Korea (36.2° N, 128.6° E: paleocoordinates 45.5° N, 122.5° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Jinju Formation (Shindong Group), Albian (113.0 - 100.5 Ma)

• =Dongmyeon Formation. Formerly given a wide age range (often Barremian), but youngest detrital zircon in Jinju Formation is 106 Ma, indicating an age no older than Albian (Lee et al., 2010)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine - large; lithified, fine-grained, gray shale

• Initiated by north–south left-lateral regional simple shear as a wrench tectonic system due to highly oblique subduction of the Izanagi Plate (Lee et al., 2010)

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: adpression

Collection methods: Repository: Dae-Gu Science High School
